Hits Reloaded returns for 2021, giving kids the chance to perform at the Opera House, on a professional stage that has hosted many of the world’s biggest stars over the years.
Young people from Blackpool and the Fylde Dance Academy are involved alongside dance schools across the Lancashire region.
This will be the 13th year the academy has been asked to be involved and it is one of the highlights of the year.
It’s also a great moment for young dancers as it’s the first time they’ve performed since before the Covid pandemic.
Principal Leanne Tobin said: “It is an honor to be invited to perform in such a professional environment, especially as we are a small community school based in Carleton Scout Hall, it gives us the chance to perform on a world-class stage.
This year the students will present a short medley based on Bombay Dreams the Musical.
Songs include Like an Eagle, Chaiyya Chaiyya and Shakalaka Baby.
Leanne added: “The students showed dedication and rehearsed at very different times.
“Parents have been incredibly supportive, even to the point of becoming fully licensed chaperones, which included an interview and online training with the board.
“We have a mix of ages happening this year starting at seven.
“For many this is their first time performing on a real theater stage as they joined dance school during lockdown while zooming in on line dancing lessons.
“We have a troupe of 30 students in total.”
