CALERA – On Tuesday, May 17, Kerrie Parker, owner and principal of Calera Dance Academy, announced that CDA has purchased a new building in Calera and will be moving.

CDA’s new building is located at 980 14th St. The academy is currently located in historic downtown Calera at 8251 US 31 and has been there since 2008.

“We couldn’t wait to share this news with you,” Parker said during a live on Facebook and Instagram. “We bought a new building on 14th Street. There is a drive-thru, parking and lighting.

Parker also expressed his love for Main Street and its role in the history of the academy during his time there.

“We’ve loved being a part of Main Street for over 15 years, especially the new revitalization, supporting local businesses like ours and building lasting partnerships,” Parker said. “(We) are so happy to have found a location that allows us to be a part of the wonderful things happening downtown while gaining larger studios and allowing for better drop off and pick up for our families.”

Calera Dance Academy will close on Friday, June 10 and plan to move in immediately. While CDA has finalized the renovations, some summer session classes may still be located in the building on US 31.

CDA plans to fully relocate to the 14th Street building by its open house for the fall season, which also marks its 20th anniversary on Aug. 7 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Parker also said the new space includes three spaces, room for a hall, two functional bathrooms, and air conditioning.

“We hope this adds another icing on the recital week cake,” Parker said.

Parker signed the contract a few weeks prior in the middle of preparing for the week-long recital.

It was also announced that CDA would also be getting a new logo as well as a new building. Parker said it still features the same “beautiful” dancer from the previous logo, but with some updates to the font.
