WATCHUNG, NJ — On Saturday, April 9, Mount Saint Mary Academy Dance Club competed in the Applause Talent Dance Competition in Whippany. The dancers’ two performances earned them a huge trophy for achieving the highest overall score.
The lyrical number, which was choreographed by Watchung’s junior co-captain Dena Mistichelli, earned the highest overall score in the First Call category. The jazz arrangement, which was choreographed by co-lead captain Arianna Salerno of Watchung, received the judge’s award for “Spirit of Dance” and placed second.
Arianna said, “As co-captain of the dance ensemble this year, I have had the privilege of watching my peers grow in their dance abilities. As a team, we bonded extremely well and formed friendships that last a lifetime.
Successfully representing the Mount were, along with Arianna and Dena, club members Julia Agosta from Chatham, Kathleen Altobelli from Bridgewater, Marina DeNezza from Clark, Kailey Fahy from New Providence, Victoria Fekete from Livingston, Akshaya Karanam from Woodbridge, Mary Catherine King from Basking Ridge, Sarah Mooney from Berkeley Heights, Kelsie Neidenbach from South Plainfield, Katelin Rosenbaum from Colonia and Emma Szabo from Fanwood. Julia Pierce, associate in the management of registrations at the MSMA, is the advisor to the club.
