FYI Dance Club Wicklow students end the season on a high

FYI Dance and Performance Club’s weekly classes are over for the season, but the dancers made sure to come out in style.

Earlier this month, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations, the FYI Dance Club held pop-up dance shows and workshops.

Founder Zoe Patterson said: “Before our Cruinniú na nÓg event, students from our performance group held a flashmobbing with a number of different businesses around Wicklow town to promote our pop-up events.

“On the very day of Cruinniú na nÓg, we had 32 participants in our workshops. St Patrick’s NS was kind enough to let us use their school grounds because the weather was so nice. The students taught a number of their different routines to the participants.

“Afterwards, the students performed at the Wicklow Resource Centre, where they performed group and solo pieces, all accredited by the students.”

FYI Dance students also took part in the SSE Round Ireland festivities, performing the same routine recently filmed by RTE’s Nationwide.

“We were filmed performing at Kilruddery House for Nationwide, and ended up teaching the same routine to all pupils of all ages. They played as a group at Black Castle and had a great time, with a mix of solo, freestyle and group pieces,” added Zoe.
