WATCH – Mount Saint Mary Academy Dance Club took part in That’s Entertainment Performing Arts competition in Whippany on Saturday 24th April.
The two performances by the Watchung students won them a huge trophy for the best overall score.
The lyrical number, choreographed by Warren’s Ainsley Klein and Watchung’s Marisa Mazzuca, won overall top scores in the Rising Star category. The jazz arrangement, also choreographed by Klein and Mazzuca, received the judge’s award for “Fiercest Number.”
Both club performances received a Gold Award and the lyrical number was invited to the national competition to be held in Atlantic City in July.
There were many rave reviews for Mount Dancer’s “perfect use of crown, intense focus from the first note, and demanding attention through performance and concentration.”
Club members Klein, Mazzuca, Tara Schilke of Pittstown, Kayla DeAngelis of Basking Ridge, Aryana Perez of Union, Mary Perez of Lebanon, Arianna Salerno of Watchung, Dena Mistichelli of Watchung, Kelsie Neidenbach of South Plainfield, Marina DeNezza represented successfully the Mt. from Clark, Kailey Fahy from New Providence, Kathleen Altobelli from Bridgewater, Emma Szabo from Fanwood, Victoria Fekete from Livingston and Nina Heim from Westfield.
