The Great Lakes Dance Academy will perform “Cinderella”

PETOSKEY — The Great Lakes Dance Academy wraps up the end of the year with four different performances of “Cinderella.”

The performance of the academy – one that differs from the traditional Nutcracker – is one envisioned by owner Brandy Solberg.

“I remember when my sister was younger and dancing. She did ‘Cinderella’ her senior year and I really enjoyed watching that and being inspired,” Solberg said.

“I wanted to do this performance and be able to see it and do it in my vision,” she said.

The shows feature more than 100 dancers ages 3 to 18 and will all take place at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor.

The show kicked off on Thursday, December 2, but the academy still has three performances coming up at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are still available for all performances and can be purchased for $15 per person before the start of each show.

“It’s crazy that we’ve been working on this for so long,” Solberg said. “We’re all excited to put on the show for everyone to see.”
